John Phares

March 22, 1935 — January 8, 2015

John Albert Phares, 79 of Hickory died Thursday, January 8th, 2015 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born March 22nd, 1935 he was the son of the late Lloyd Phares and Mary Mosier Phares. He was retired from BMW Construction Company in Indianapolis with over 30 years of service. He was a member of the Shelbyville, IN Masonic Lodge 28 and he was a member of the Scottish Rite and York Rite Shriner's of Indiana. He was a member of the Local 440 United Association Union of Plumbers, Fitters, welders and HVAC service tech's. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and father-in-law and was an avid fisherman. His wife of 60 years, Anna Davis Phares of the home; two son, Bryan Douglas Phares and wife Sharon of Fresno, CA and Jeffery Dean Phares and wife Michelle of Morganton; a daughter, Rhonda Gayle Willis and husband Larry of Hickory; a brother, Larry Phares and wife Denie of Shelbyville, IN and a sister, Doris Klingerberger of Crown Point, IN; three grandchildren, Brooke Phares, Jamie Phares and Chris Willis and four great-grandchildren survive him. A Celebration of John's life will be 2:00 pm Monday, January 12th, 2015 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steve Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 pm Monday, January 12th, 2015 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150 Chicago, IL 60601.
