John Clinton Ramsey, a native of Burke County and a long time Lincoln County resident passed away on Sunday, November 28th, 2021 at Cardinal Care Health and Rehabilitation in Lincolnton. He was 89 years old.
Born September 28th, 1932 he was a son of Otis and Flavia Chapman Ramsey. Married to the late Peggy Ruth Leatherman Ramsey, he is survived by daughters, Ramona Ramsey and Renee Ramsey Carpenter (Larry) of Lincolnton, grandchildren Carrie Carpenter Leatherman (Clay) and Clinton Carpenter and great grandchildren Seth Hartman and Emma Carpenter.
Survivors also include brothers and sisters: Geneva Bradshaw of Lawndale, Jack Ramsey, Jeanette Chapman (Fred), Don Ramsey and Geraldine Lail of Morganton, Bill Ramsey of Nebo (formerly Morganton) and Marlene Cooper (Jonas) of Valdese; sisters in law Ruby Ramsey, Christine Davis and Betty Leatherman; 27 nieces and nephews and a number of great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was proceeded in death by his parents and four brothers, Lee Ramsey, Joseph Ramsey, Millard Ramsey and Fredrick Ramsey.
A veteran of the United States Army, John was a retired truck driver logging well over a million miles accident free. The funeral will be at Jenkins Funeral Home in Newton, NC on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 11:30 am. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be private and at a later date at Hebron United Methodist Church, Vale, NC.
