John Varner

John Patrick Varner, Sr. 71 of Glen Street Newton died Tuesday April 15, 2008 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born April 24, 1936 in Mifflin County Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William Taft Varner and Mary Elizabeth Pagenta Varner. He owned numerous businesses in hi life, and was a general contractor since 1963 until the late nineties. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, outdoorsman and world traveler. Two brothers, Bruce and Robert Varner preceded him in death. A daughter, Cynthia Hernandez and husband Salvador of Vale, a son, John Patrick Varner, Jr. and wife Tammy of Newton, three sisters, Rosie Parks of Burnham, PA, Shirley Varner of Rochester, NY, and Jeanette Bennion of Palmyra, PA, a brother, Stewart Varner of Mulberry, FL and four grandchildren, Zachary Varner, Cody Varner, Samantha Varner and Sara Hernandez survive him. A celebration of Johnâ??s life will be 8:00p.m. Thursday April 17, 2008 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel.
