Johnny Brittain

June 27, 1937 — February 6, 2023

Johnny Ray Brittain, 85, of Newton passed away Monday, February 6, 2023 at The Greens at Lincolnton. Born June 27th, 1937 he was the late son of George and Molly Brittain.

Johnny was an active member of New Jerusalem Lutheran Church. He was a loving father and a wonderful caregiver to his wife.

He is survived by his daughter Renee Raines of Conover, his son Scott Brittain and daughter-in-law Laura Brittain, his sisters Mae Brittain and Aileen Berry of Hickory, grandchildren Karson Walker (Austin) and Payton Brittain, and great-grandchildren Gentry Walker and Sophia Bowes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife nearly 50 years Joy Alice Lutz Brittain, four brothers, a sister, and a grandchild Haley Raines.

The funeral will be 3:00 PM Wednesday, February 8th, 2023, at New Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Randall Cauble officiating. The family will greet friends after the service.

The family would to thank The Greens at Lincolnton and Hospice of Lincoln County and all the workers there who cared for Johnny.

Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Lincoln County.
