Johnny White

Johnny Darrell White, Sr. 62, of 11th Ave NE Hickory died unexpectedly at his home Monday August 3, 2009. Mr. White had battled depression the past several years and his heavenly father decided to end his struggle and call him home. Born in Catawba County, March 1, 1947 to George and Nellie Robinson, he was later adopted by his uncle and aunt, the late Jim and Bethel White. In addition to his mother, Nell White of Hickory, a daughter, Tracy C. Laney of Hickory; a son, Johnny D. White, Jr.; two sisters, Maryanne Setzer of Hickory and Barbara Benfield of Hickory; five grandchildren, Ashley White, Jessica White, Cassianne Coffey, Jon White and Dakota Laney and four great grandsons survive him. A brother, Jimmy Robinson preceded him in death. A Celebration of Johnnyâ??s life will be 5:00 p.m. Friday August 7, 2009 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ernest Speagle will officiate.
