Joseph Simms

Joseph Michael ?Mike? Simms, Sr. of Dellinger Drive, Newton died Monday, August 8, 2011. Born June 26, 1951, he was the son of Joseph William Simms and Marjorie Dorothy Morrettsette Simms. Mike was a lifelong mechanic and worked at GTE Security for the last two years. He was a soul mate to his wife for the last five years. In addition to his wife, Catheyne Irene Grooms Simms; a daughter, Samantha Jo Simms of Chesapeake Beach, MD.; a step daughter, Pamela Dills of Morganton; a sister, Deborah Lee Nice of Corryton, TN; two nieces, Marjorie Nefflen and Melissa Pearson; two nephews, Michael Nice and Johnny Scheuch; a step grand-son, Dustin Hill; and several great nieces and nephews survive him. A son, Joseph Michael Simms, Jr. and two sisters, Pamela Ann Fales and Marion Elise Horton preceded him in death. A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 at Good News Ministries, 1500 NW Blvd. Newton. Pastor Edward Burns will officiate.
