Joyce Ann Chaney, 81, of Hickory died Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Carolina Caring. Born Saturday, August 27th, 1938 she was the daughter of Romie and Oma Goins. Joyce was a sweet and loving mother and grandmother not only to her own children but she served as a Cottage Parent to many at the South Mountain Children's Home. Joyce also had a passion for dancing and sewing.
Two daughters, Cathy Buckner (Richard) of Hickory and Ruthie Fagan of Hickory; her two sons Timothy Chaney (Charlotte) of Valdese and Mark Chaney (Kim) of Hickory; two sisters Aileen Goudelock (James) of Dallas and Hazel Pressley of Lowell; sixteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive her.
In addition to her parents; her husband of 62 years, John E Chaney; and her son John R. Chaney preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm Wednesday, October 30th, 2019 at Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home with the Celebration of Life following in the Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Aaron Causby Officiating.
