Joyce Rutledge

Joyce Ann Rutledge 78 of Hickory died Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born February 15th, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Jewell Lyle. Throughout her life she generously volunteered at several senior citizen's centers and was active and volunteered in church activities. For several years, she helped with the Angel Tree of the Salvation Army.  Two daughters, Sheila Rodatz and husband Malcolm of Hickory and Sharon Newman of Jeffersonville, IN; a son, Steven Rutledge and wife Marialice of Vale, NC; 10 grandchildren, Luke Rutledge, Tristin Reinke and husband Josh, Jessica Bruce and husband Doug, Melissa Svare and husband Matthew, Hope Pomeroy and husband Anthony, Kim Newman, Adam Rodatz, Hannah Rodatz, Faith Rodatz and Xylon Roland; 11 great grandchildren, Abigail Bruce, Ava Svare, William Bruce, Moriah Svare, Amelia Bruce, Katelyn Pomeroy, Skylar Svare, Michael Bruce, Evelyn Svare, Kolton Pomeroy and Gideon Svare and a daughter-in-law, Tracy Rutledge survive her. A son, David Rutledge, and her husband, William E. Rutledge preceded her in death. The funeral will be 5:00 pm Monday December 11, 2017 at Jenkins Funeral home Chapel with Captain Tim Delaney officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 pm in the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home Monday prior to the service.
