Juanita Bingham, 90, of Hickory died Monday, February 8, 2016 at her home at Kingston Residence. Born October 6th, 1925, she was the daughter of Roy and Nena Swinney. She was raised in O'Donnell, Texas by her aunt and uncle, Lora and Johnnie Ellis after her mother passed when she was 10 years old. A lifelong caregiver, Juanita helped with rearing her four younger siblings and later in life was caregiver to the many aunts who helped with her raising. She married L.D. Bingham on July 28, 1944. She and L.D. raised two girls: Nena Nevalee Bingham Cunningham, their first and only child, and later, Xan Dee Bussanmas Pilgrim, their only grandchild. Family and friends who knew her will miss her kind and loving ways and her willingness to help others. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, L.D. Bingham, on December 23, 2015. After 71 years of marriage, it was their desire to pass from this earth together and they spoke of leaving for the next life together often in their final weeks. Their devotion and love for each other was evident to all those close to them. Juanita is also preceded in death by her daughter, Nena Nevalee Bingham. She is survived by her granddaughter, Xan Pilgrim and husband Steve of Hickory, NC; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Zachary, Connor Christian and Cole Thomas, also of Hickory, NC.
