Judy Slaughter

Judy Yvonne Slaughter, 57 of Highway 10, Newton died Sunday, June 17, 2012 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born February 5, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Lee Slaughter, and Azalea Orr Slaughter of Newton. Judy enjoyed spending time at the river, and was an avid fisherman. She enjoyed art, and singing gospel music. Judy loved spending time with her family, and granddaughter, and always put others before herself. A friend, Dennis Allen Horne, of the home; two daughters, Angela Hubbard, and husband Justin of Newton, and Crystal Underwood and husband Chris of Hickory; Three sisters, Bonnie Cook of Lawndale, Naomi Cook of Hickory, and Wanda Kay Sigmon of Hickory; A brother Dennis Slaughter of New Philly, Ohio; and a granddaughter, Hayden Azalea Smith survive her. The Funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. Pastor Joel Cook will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton.
