Karen Winkles Hubanks, 43, of Hickory, NC, passed away on February 24, 2023, at Frye Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Born on March 14, 1979, in Gaston County, she was a sweet, humble and loving child of God.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Hubanks of the home; a son, Andrew Hubanks of the home; a daughter, Alexis Hubanks of Connelly Springs; her parents, Rebecca and Jeff Paseur and Dennis and Barbara Winkles of Dallas; three sisters; Leah W. Mackey (Mitchell) of Bessemer City, Heather P. Kuemmerle (Daniel) of Smyra, GA and Rachael P. Nuscher (Rob Stevens) of Peachtree City, GA; her grandmother, Betty Paseur of Gastonia; her father and mother-in-law, Rick and Jo Hubanks of Newton;her sister and brother-in-law, Kristin and Mervin Rueda of Hickory; special nieces and nephews, Alyvia and Mason Mackey, Grant and Miles Kuemmerle, Reese, Luke and Ryann Nuscher, Genesis Maynard; a special friend, Angelitte Burkhardt; and numerous extended family members and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents; James and Helen Pasour, Earl and Frances Winkles, Clyde Paseur and Al and Lois Hamilton.
A Celebration of Life service will be 4:00 pm Thursday March 2, 2023 at Discovery Church, 2201 Startown Road, Newton, NC. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00 pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Discovery Church with a memo for Safe Harbor (for Women’s Healing) or Well Women (for Women’s Ministry) Mail to 2201 Startown Road Newton, NC 28658.
