Karl Custer

Dr. Karl Dean Custer, 71, of Winchester, Virginia, died Saturday, March 23, 2013 at his residence. Dr. Custer was born February 7, 1942, in Somerset, Pennsylvania, son of the late, John S. Custer and Thelma Miller Custer. He was a chiropractor serving the Winchester area since 1976 at Custer Chiropractic Clinic. Having personally received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and knowing the forgiveness of his sins, he faithfully lived his life for Him. He was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winchester. He married Judith Evans Custer on May 31, 1967, in Greenville, South Carolina. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Clayton Custer and his wife, Becky, of Greenville, SC and Jonathan Custer and his wife, Cassie, of Woodruff, SC; a daughter, Marsha Landry and her husband, Peter, of Upton, MA; a sister in law, Jeannine Glaze and husband Gary of Hickory; eleven grandchildren, Sarah Bates and her husband, Andrew, Drew Custer, Madison Landry, Nicolas Custer, Wil Landry, Esther Landry, Sophia Landry, Gideon Landry, Ava Custer, Nathan Custer and Clayton Custer; and one great grandson, Carson Bates. A funeral was held 11:00 A. M. Friday, March 29, 2013 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Winchester, VA., with Pastor Steve Rebert officiating. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery, Hickory. Pastor Scott Hooks will officiate.
