Kayla Vang

Kayla Vang, age 9, a fourth grade student at Startown Elementary School, died Friday November 14, 2008 at Catawba Valley Medical Center from a brain tumor. Born July 9, 1999 in Catawba County she was the daughter of Blong Vang and Rosa Thao of the home. Kayla made friends easy. She was a strong willed, kind-hearted, respectful and easy going person. She enjoyed memory games, board games, cards and crafts. In addition to her parents, survivors include three sisters, Bridget Vang, Breeana Vang, and Arabella Vang all of the home; paternal grandparents, Ma Yang and Gnia Her Vang of Newton; maternal grandparents, Tong Vang and Larry Thao of Stockton, CA. Hmong funeral rites will be observed Saturday November 22, 2008 from 8:00a.m.-10:00p.m. and Sunday at 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. at Startown Gathering Center at Jenkins Funeral Home.
