Keith Thomas Stephens, 86, died Friday, January 8, 2010 at Kingston Residence, Hickory. He was born May 12, 1923 in Ogden, Utah to the late George Thomas & Mary Alice Pingree Stephens. Keith was a faithful member & former Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a missionary in Argentina for 3 years. During his professional career he was a Wall Street banker, Professor at Seton Hall University and a Department Head at Western Carolina University. His son; Gregory Keith & Mary Ann Stephens of Fort Worth, Texas, two daughters; Rebecca Alice Stephens & Dave Melonakos of Newton, Karen Lisa Stephens & Wayne Taylor of Phoenix, Arizona, 15 grand-children; John Melonakos, Steven Melonakos, Eric Melonakos, Laura Melonakos, Cory Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Jeremy Taylor, Travis Taylor, Trina Taylor, Caroline Taylor, Andrew Stephens, Rachel Sorenson, Sara Morrill, Jessica Stephens and Jason Stephens and foster grandson, Bill Mallett; four great-grandchildren, David, Amy, Katherine Melonakos, Tycho Morrill survive him. His wife of 53 years; Alice Maxine Berg Stephens and son; Jonathon Thomas Stephens, preceded him in death. The funeral will be Sunday, January 10, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; 4065 North Center Street, Hickory with Bishop Paul Baird conducting and President Mick Berry presiding. The family will receive friends one hour prior from 4-4:45 p.m., at the church. A graveside service will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 12, 2010 in Ogden City Cemetery in Ogden, Utah. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. prior to the graveside service at Lindquist Funeral Home in Ogden, Utah. Memorials may be made to: Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6089 Northlake Drive, Hickory, NC 28601. Condolence messages may be sent to www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net.  The Stephens family has entrusted arrangements to Jenkins Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Newton.Â
