Larry Dellinger

September 27, 1940 — February 24, 2023

Larry "Chico" Arnold Dellinger, 82, of Hickory died Friday, February 24th, 2023, at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born September 27th, 1940, he was the son of the late JC Dellinger and Lucy Mae Dellinger.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, JC and Lucy Dellinger; a sister, Nancy Tucker; brothers, Clayton and Donald Dellinger; and grandsons, Cameron and Andrew Dellinger.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sandra Yount Dellinger of Hickory a daughter, April Queen (husband, Bobby) of Newton and a son, Larry “Wayne” Dellinger (wife, Jennifer) of Knoxville, TN; two brothers, Jim Dellinger and his wife, Lois of Hickory, and Kenneth Dellinger of Claremont; a cousin, Wanda Sue Ammerman;
two grandchildren, Natasha Hefner (husband, Darren) of Conover, Angela Testerman of Newton; five great grandchildren, Devin Queen, Makayla Herman, Nicholas Herman, Kaylee Earp, and Karson Earp; and seven step grandchildren, Michelle, Daren, Carrie, Chelsea, Jaysea, Brandon, and Sheena. He was also blessed with an honorary son and daughter who was very special to him, Robert Floyd and Carla Reep. He was loved by several nieces and nephews.

Larry had a love of baseball and played as a teenager growing up. His team was the Atlanta Braves. He also loved several of the ACC teams, going to the beach, looking for shark’s teeth and going to the mountains to look for arrowheads. Larry’s fur buddies, Bacon and Biscuit held a special place in his heart.

All of Larry’s life up to retirement, he worked in furniture at North Hickory Furniture and Shuford Furniture in Hickory, NC. He led a full life with all his family and traveling. We will love you and miss you, but we know his life NOW will be full and glorious in Heaven with Jesus.

The visitation will be held 3:00 -4:00 PM Friday, March 3, 2023 at Jenkins Funeral Home with the service following at 4:00 PM.

Memorials may be made to the Victims of Murdered Children.
