Larry Delmas Ervin, 81, of Newton went on to Glory Monday, September 19, 2022 at Carolina Rehab Center of Burke. Born March 17th, 1941 he was the son of the late Joseph William Ervin and Effie Ervin. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, he was a sports fanatic, and loved the New York Yankees. He loved to coach baseball. He also loved computers and loved to watch the history channel. He was reserved, quiet and had a big heart.
His wife of thirty two years, Ramona Ervin; his sons, Joe Ervin (Paige) of Maryland, Benjamin Ervin (Anne) of Charlotte; step-son, Wesley Martin (Amy) of Newton; his sister, Brenda Ervin Whisnant of Lenoir; sister-in-law, Ruby Ervin of Lenoir; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Maddie, Liam Ervin and Zac Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews survive him.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Henry (Bill) Ervin preceded him in death.
A graveside service will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Peter Brown officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
