Larry Dean Hefner, 68 of Old Conoverâ??Startown Rd. Newton, died Sunday November 2, 2008 at his residence. Born September 19, 1940 in Catawba County, he was the son of Marie Hefner Bryant of Jamestown, NC and the late Berman Albert Hefner. For over 25 years he was employed at Alexvale Furniture. An avid lover of animals, he raised and showed horses. He was a big fan of UNC Tar heels. His wife of 47 years, Nancy Seitz Hefner of the home; two sons, Ronald Dean Hefner and his wife, Marie of Newton and David Philip Hefner of the home; a daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Hefner of Newton; a sister, Linda Hefner Brady and her husband , Paul of Hickory; a brother, Dale Edward Hefner and his wife Vickie of Newton; a brother-in-law, Alvin Seitz and his wife Betty of Newton; a sister-in-law, Sara Seitz of Hickory; four grandchildren, Heather, Amber, Kelsey and Dalton and a great grand daughter, Piper and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins survive him. A son; Randy Hefner preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday November 5, 2008 at New Jerusalem Lutheran Church with Pastor Randall Cauble officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Jenkins Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to New Jerusalem Lutheran Church 2120 Startown Rd, Hickory, NC 28602 or to Palliative CareCenter and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Rd. Newton, NC 28658.
