L.D. Bingham, 90, of Hickory died Wednesday, December 23rd, 2015 at his residence. Born October 10th, 1925 he was the son of James Bingham and Era Bingham. He was an Army veteran of WWII. A farmer, he worked in the Cotton Gin as a manager. He was a devoted caregiver to his wife, Juanita, of 71 years. L.D. and Juanita raised two girls: Nena Nevalee Bingham Cunningham, their first and only child, and later, Xan Dee Bussanmas Pilgrim, their only grandchild. Family and friends who knew him will miss his mischievous ways and his tall tales of growing up in the “Wild West” of Dawson county Texas after the Great Depression. His wife, Juanita Swinney Bingham of the home; granddaughter, Xan Pilgrim and husband Steven of Hickory, NC; three great-grandchildren, Ryan Zachary, Connor Christian and Cole Thomas, also of Hickory, NC, survive him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nena Nevalee Bingham and two sisters; Doyle Simmons and Beverly Elliott. A memorial service for L.D. will be held at the Liledoun Road Church of Christ in Taylorsville, NC, December 31st at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Catawba County Hospice, 3975 Robinson Rd., Newton, NC 28658.
