Leonard Russell

Rev. Leonard Charles Russell, 63 of Newton died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born April 1, 1950 in Alexander County, he was the son of the late Lindsay Garland Russell and Lena Wilkins Russell. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a truck driver and a minister. In addition to his wife of 35 years, Vickie Ann Grindstaff Russell of the home; a daughter, Lisa Michelle Flowers and husband Rick of Conover; a son, Israel John Russell of Newton; three sisters, Harriet "Pat" Tyler and husband Ron of Hickory, Annie Russell Robinette and husband Ronnie of Taylorsville and Mary Russell Teague and husband Joseph of Bethlehem; two brothers, Gerald Thomas Russell of Moravian Falls and Dennis Lee Russell of Boomer, NC; and a grand-daughter, Samantha Paige Flowers, his pride and joy; a sister-n-law, Betty Russell of Maiden, five nephews and two nieces survive him. A son, Douglas Leonard Russell and a brother, Lindsay Garland Russell, Jr., three nephews, Howard Thomas Russell, Dennis Eugene Russell and Edward K. Robinette preceded him in death.
