Leroy Higgs

Leroy Edward Higgs 66 of Newton died Friday December 28th, 2012 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Born July 16th, 1946 he was the son of the late Averette Floyd Higgs and Sally Annie Higgs. He was employed by Direction Furniture for over 20 years. He was a member of Today's Grace Penecostal Holiness Church in Newton. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His wife of 48 years, Kathy Jeannette Higgs of the home; two daughters, Teresa Higgs Worley of Newton and Pamela Jean Higgs of Catawba; two sons, Roy Lee Higgs of Catawba and Steven Edward Higgs and wife Crystal of Conover; a sister, Joyce Ann White and husband Stewart of Axton, VA; a brother, Gary Wayne Higgs and wife Barbara of Spencer, VA; 10 grandchildren and two great grandchildren survive him. A brother, Averette Floyd Higgs, Jr. and a grandchild, Caiden Edward Higgs preceded him in death. The funeral will be 3:00 pm Monday December 31st, 2012 at Today's Grace Penecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tony Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 pm Sunday December 30th, 2012 at the funeral home.
