Leroy Simerly

Leroy Shermond Simerly, 75, of Hickory passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Carolina Caring. Born, March 26th, 1946 he was the son of late Earl Jay and Edith Arnett Simerly.  Leroy was a U.S. Army Veteran and worked as a supervisor in many Furniture Manufacturers. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his spare time.

In addition to his wife of 28 years, Debra Moretz Simerly; two daughters, Tammy Trent and husband Kenny of Taylorsville, Kristine Wehunt and husband Adam of Mooresville; six sons, Todd Simerly and wife Amanda of Taylorsville, Jamie Simerly and wife, Nichole of Taylorsville, Travis Simerly and wife, Savanna of Newton, Jessie Simerly of Hickory; a step son, Devin Akers of Hickory; four sisters, Melva Doris King of Hampton, TN, Judy Guinn of Johnson City, TN, Janie Guinn and husband Harland, Jill Stansbury and husband, Roy of Johnson City, TN; two brothers, Rev. Allen Simerly and wife Judy of Hampton TN, Teddy Mack Simerly of Hampton, TN, a sister in law Janice Simerly; eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews survive him.

In addition to his parents, a son, Christopher Leroy Simerly; two brothers, Bradly Dale Simerly, Danny Ross Simerly and his brother in law, Darrell Quinn preceded him in death.

The funeral will be 4:00 pm Thursday, August 19th, 2021 at Jenkins Funeral Home with his son Pastor Todd Simerly officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm-4:00 pm  Thursday, August 19th, 2021 in the Chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home.
