Lillian “Bunny” Ainsley Stamback Hoover, 72 of Hickory died Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Trinity Ridge in Hickory. Born, April 6th, 1947 she was the daughter of the late Alfred Stamback and Jean Craddock Stamback. Born at home after Easter dinner Lillian was given the nickname of Bunny and it stuck. Bunny was a 1965 graduate of Einstein High School in Kensington, MD. She went on to study at Montgomery Community College. Her interests included a study of Early American history and the Civil War. In 1971 Bunny married Marvin Evans in Kensington, MD. They lived in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1973 their child was born. Later the family moved to Houston, TX. In 1978 Bunny and her daughter moved to Silver Spring , MD. Bunny became quite active in her church and served in a variety of callings where she worked with children and the women of her church. She also enjoyed being in the church choir. As a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she had the opportunity to go to the Washington D.C. Temple in her native city of Kensington. She loved serving at the Temple. Bunny was a loving mother. She was very friendly and always quick to smile, laugh and talk. In 2003 her daughter “finally” married and in 2005 Bunny became a Grandma. Grandma Bunny was happiest when surrounded by her grandsons. She couldn't love them more and they love her.
A daughter Kristen Higley and husband Jason Higley of Hickory; a sister Cathy Stamback of Rockville, MD; five grandsons Benjamin Thomas Daniel Matthew and David Higley survive her.
In addition to her parents; two sisters Jeanette Buffano, Roberta Arnold; two brothers Marvin Oberholtzer and David Stamback preceded her in death.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am Tuesday October 22, 2019 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 4065 N. Center St, Hickory, NC 28601.
Jenkins Funeral Home staff is not involved in the memorial service at the church.
