Our beloved Mother, Linda Turner Allen, affectionately known as ‘Maw’, went home to the Lord the morning of February 14, 2021. She was 83.
Despite waning health for several years, she remained cheerful and quick with a hug and a smile. Maw displayed more concern with the wellbeing of others more than her own. Her determined optimism, courage and faith enabled her to endure great loss and sadness in her life. The matriarch of the family, she was our rock and guiding light. Maw provided unconditional love, encouragement and support.
She was born to James and Janelle Turner on November 17, 1937. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by beloved sons, Michael and Mark; her husband of fifty years, Jack McKinney Allen and her sisters, Barbara and Nancy.
She is survived by daughters Jamie and Penelope, son James and loving Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Maw is and always will be missed immensely by her family and many friends. She greatly enjoyed the fellowship of her friends and being involved in her church. Her example of kindness, character, and faith will long remain a fond memory and example to those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the health care professionals who provided her with attentive and loving care as well as the prayers and moral support of family and friends through this difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday 27, 2021 at Faith Olive Baptist Church, 4113 Old Shelby Rd., Hickory, NC at 2 pm.
Jenkins Funeral Home will not be involved in the service at the church
