Lisa Sowards

December 30, 1964 — August 10, 2021

Lisa Cherie Wright Sowards, 56, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was born on December 30, 1964 to Larry Dean Wright and Donna Savincki Wright in Mecklenburg county. She was married to Randy Duane Sowards on September 21, 1985. They had a beautiful baby girl, Amanda Renee on September 13, 1988.

Lisa was a graduate from North Mecklenburg High School in June of 1983. She has many classmates and friends who will miss her dearly. She was a director for World Mission Outreach where she helped in operations for three schools, over forty community outreach feeding programs, provided 15,000 meals a day, and 5.4 million meals a year for children in Nicaragua. The family ministry is a labor of love that Lisa dedicated all her heart and life to. Her mission was to share the heart of Jesus with every person she came in contact with. Lisa was deeply involved with the people of Nicaragua, who became more like family than friends.

Lisa was fearlessly and wonderfully made; she loved Jesus more than anything and is a child of God. Lisa was a one of a kind, a light to so many, a Daughter of the One True King. She was known for her huge heart, her authentic kindness, her ability to love above and beyond normal human capabilities, her compassion and passion for others, and for the many selfless sacrifices she made for her family and those in need. Lisa was an original, she was deeply loved, she was worthy of being loved, and she will be deeply missed.

Lisa also was a Yorkie breeder. Her fur babies were a large part of her life. Lisa loved her Yorkie community and treasured the friendships that she made throughout the years with those who also shared their love for their Yorkie fur babies.

She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Sowards, her mother, Donna Wright, her brothers, Larry DeWayne Wright (Elicia), and Robbie Hendrix. She is proceeded in death by her husband, Randy Sowards, her father, Rev. Larry Dean Wright, and her brother, Larry Dean Wright Jr, and her sister Laura Ellen Wright.
