Lois Emma â??Dianeâ? Stroupe Smith, 61 of Hedrick Street, Newton died Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley. She was born July 12, 1948 to the late, Howard Columbus & Pearlie Mae Paysour Stroupe. Diane worked for many years with Sigmon & Sigmon Attorneys at Law, Rebecca Englefield Attorney at Law and at the District Attorneyâ??s office as an administrative assistant. She was an administrator for the REPAY program, Meals on Wheels Volunteer and worked as a receptionist at Abernethy Laurels. A sister; Joanne Stroupe Lutz & husband, John, Jr. of Conover, three brothers; Herman Clarence & wife Lacy Stroupe of Crouse, NC, R. Dean Stroupe of Lincolnton, NC, Dennis, â??D.A.â? & wife Vivian Stroupe of Lincolnton, NC, a half-brother, George & wife Sally Paysour of Kingâ??s Mountain, NC, numerous nieces & nephews and her puppies; Barkley & Ashey, survive her. Two brothers, Lewis Stroupe & Billy Stroupe preceded her in death. A Celebration of Dianeâ??s life will be held at Spirit Place @ Abernethy Laurels, 102 Leonard Avenue, Newton at 10:30 am Saturday, January 30, 2010 (The service date has been postponed until Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at 4:00 pm) with Chaplain Larry Bolick officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to: The Humane Society of Catawba County; PO Box 63, Hickory NC 28603 (and) Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton NC 28658. Condolence messages may be sent to www.jenkinsfuneralhome.net. The Smith family has entrusted arrangements to Jenkins Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Newton.Â
