Loretta Bolton Howell, 72 of Hickory died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at her residence. She was born October 31, 1937 in Burke County to her parents; the late William Clarence & Lee G. Franklin Bolton. Five daughters; Terri Lynn & Tonya E. Howell of the home, Tammy Fleming & Buddy Fleming of Haysi, Va. , Tina Hersman of Hickory, Janet & Joe McGonigal of Hickory, three sons; Charles â??Timâ? & Brenda Howell of Granite Falls, Michael T. Howell of Georgia, Tony E. Howell of Spruce Pine, four sisters, four brothers, 17 grand-children, 8 great grand-children, 3 step grand-children, 6 step great grand-children and a number of nieces and nephews survive her. Her husband, Charles R. Howell and a brother, Marion Eugene Bolton preceded her in death.  The family wishes to thank Palliative CareCenter & Hospice of Catawba Valley for taking such good care of their mother. A service of remembrance will begin 12:00 p.m. Saturday, January 16, 2009 at Jenkins Funeral Home on Startown Rd., with Major Kent Davis officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11:00-12 pm at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery in Conover. Pallbearers will be Marine Sergeant William B. â??B.J.â? Fleming, Arnold Jacob, â??A.J.â? Fleming, Shawn Taylor Hersman, Gregory A. Howell, William Earnest Fleming, Buddy Fleming. Honorary Pallbearers include: Charles Joseph, â??C.J.â?
