We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, and husband Louie Medeiros. He, like thousands of others, lost his battle with Covid-19 on Friday, February 19th, 2021.

Louie was born and raised in South Dartmouth, Massachusetts, by his mother, Theresa, and father, Louis. The eldest of five siblings, Louie was very athletic and started bowling at an early age with his dad, even winning a trip to the New York World’s Fair when he was fifteen years old. As a young adult, Louie played on a traveling softball team and competed for championships throughout New England. He loved baseball, specifically the Boston Red Sox, and attended Fenway Park often as a child with his friends and family. He also served in the US Army as an explosive specialist. He met his beloved wife Lisa in 1981, with whom he spent nearly forty happy years. They went on to have two children together, Nicholas and Anjela. The family relocated to North Carolina in 1995 while Louie was working with Home Depot. He was very active in coaching his children's sports teams and was a favorite coach at the Mountain View Recreation Center. Through the years in North Carolina, Louie formed great friendships and cherished all of them. In April of 2020, he relocated to South Carolina where new and special friendships were created as well.

Louie is survived by his wife, Lisa, son, Nicholas and his beautiful lady, Elise Denzer, his daughter, Anjela Woods and her husband, Sam, his grandson, Andrew Limone Medeiros, and his mother, Leah Limone, whom he loved with all his heart. Also surviving are his mother, Theresa Medeiros; sisters Dorothy Burt, Debbie Gauthier and husband, Bill, Betty McClary and husband, Tony; brother, Allen; brother-in-law, Kevin Blake and wife Helen, and several nieces and nephews. He had a very special place in his heart for his cousin, David Medeiros, and his wife Lisa, their daughter, Michelle McDonnell, and her husband John, and their beautiful baby, Quinn. He loved all his cousins deeply and had wonderful times with them throughout his life. Louie was preceded in death by his father Louis Medeiros; father-in-law William Blake; mother-in-law Theresa Blake; sister-in-law Bettyann Blake, and several wonderful aunts and uncles.

A small memorial will be held at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Clemson, SC. Father Dan McLellan will preside over the ceremony. Plans for future celebrations of his life are being made in North Carolina and Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or Father Edward Flanagan’s Boys Town mission in memory of Louie would be appreciated. Jenkins Funeral Home in Hickory, NC, will have Louie’s obituary on their site.

We know that you are not here, you do not sleep.

You are a thousand winds that blow. You are the thousand glints of snow.
You are the sunlight on ripened grain. You are the gentle autumn rain.
And when we awaken in the morning’s hush, you are the quiet birds in circled flight. You are the soft stars that shine at night.
We do not cry today, because we know you are not here, you did not die.
You have only slipped away for a while.
We will still speak to you as if you are here. We will always laugh as you laughed and play as well as you played. We will listen to your favorite tunes and continue to dance the night away.
You will always be in us and through us, you are as close to us as our heartbeat and notice you in every eye that we meet.
We hear you in the birds that sing and the sounds of the night.
We are your life and we will miss you.
God in heaven take him under your wing and continue to bless my husband, father, son, brother, cousin, and my friend...
