Louisa Mitchem

Louisa Jane Mitchem 90 of Newton and formerly of Bluewell, WV died Monday December 9th, 2013 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born December 8th, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Alvin Rife Bailey and Icie Myrtle Shrewsberry Bailey. For all her life she was a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. A daughter, Peggy Mitchem of the home; a son, Roger L. Mitchem of Maiden; a sister, Barbara Beggs of Princeton, WV; two brothers, Lawrence Baily of Paisley, FL and Mack Bailey of Hebron, OH; four grandsons; two granddaughters; 11 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren survive her. In addition to her husband of 50 years, Louis Mitchem, a son, Alvis Rife Mitchem, a granddaughter, Vickie Mitchem, six sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. The funeral will be 1:00 pm Thursday December 12th, 2013 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluefield, WV with Pastor Ron Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Wednesday December 11th, 2013 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home.
