Lubomer â??Cyâ? A. Yanculeff died Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Carolinas Medical Center in Lincolnton, NC at the age of 80. Born September 2, 1927 in Sophia, Bulgaria, he came to the United States as an infant with his parents. Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, he served in World War II with the U.S. Armyâ??s 3rd Infantry. He went on to become an accomplished teacher and musician, enjoying his years as a band director at Buchtel High School in Akron, Ohio. After many years in education, he retired as Superintendent of Schools in Fairport Harbor, Ohio in 1976. A loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved his canine companions, Cy is survived by his loving wife and dance partner of 50 years, Norma S. (Sinese) Yanculeff of Dallas, NC, his son and his wife, Christo A. and Crystal Yanculeff of Athens, TN, his son, Alex L. Yanculeff of Akron, OH, his daughter and her husband, Laura and David J. Remsburger of Dallas, NC, and his grandchildren Cross Remsburger and Alycia E. Remsburger, both of Dallas, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents Alex L. and Helen (Bogotinova) Yanculeff, and brother Dr. Christo A. Yanculeff. Cy was a â??talkerâ? and much loved by family and friends who enjoyed his stories, jokes, and charisma. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched, from his past students to new friends he enjoyed making. Cy will be remembered as a true friend. â??Dad, youâ??re home now. I hope you never run out of people to talk to.â? A private service will be held at a later date. The family suggests that memorials in lieu of flowers be made to the Alzheimerâ??s Association.
