Lucille Kilmer Mangrum

Lucille Kilmer Mangrum, 89, of Roanoke Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening January 26, 2025 in Hickory NC, surrounded by loving family. She was born on July 29, 1935 in Wadsworth, Ohio. She attended Wadsworth High School and Cleveland Bible College, now Malone University. 

Her parents were Henry Kilmer and Elta Rohrer Kilmer and Lucille was one of nine children and is survived by one brother and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Bill Mangrum. 

She is survived by four children, Ronald Mangrum of Greensboro, NC., Linda Mangrum Clark (Mark) of Roanoke VA., Judith Mangrum Klutz (Jerry) of Newton NC., and David Mangrum (Pam) of Mansfield TX. She was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and the great grandmother of 12 great grandchildren.

She was a faithful member of Bonsack Baptist Church since 1977 and participated in adult and senior choirs and the compassion ministry. She helped with the children’s choir for many years and was a member of Faithful Branches LIFE group.

Lucille was always a positive and loving force in the life of her family and friends. She never lost her spirit or courage and continued until the end, cooking and caring for others. She was truly one of God’s angels as she brought so much love into the world. She loved her family and welcomed anyone into her home with open arms. 

She is happy to be joining her Lord in heaven and wants all of us to demonstrate the faith she always exhibited in her life. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 on Friday January 31, 2025, at Bonsack Baptist Church, Roanoke VA. There will be a visitation at the church at 10:00 preceding the memorial service.
