Mabel Brown

Mabel Irene Brown, 94, of Hickory died Friday, February 9th, 2018 at Trinity Ridge Hickory. Born March 17th, 1923 she was the daughter of the late Earl and Emma Sigmon. Mabel was a life long member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Claremont.  Mabel loved children and enjoyed being a homemaker providing childcare at the house. She worked side by side with her husband for over 17 years at Sigmon and Brown Upholstery in Dayton, VA. She loved gardening, especially flowers, and enjoyed creating floral arrangements.

Two daughters Gilda Barger and husband John of Hickory, Janet Weaver and husband Joe of Hickory; a son Ronald Brown and wife Judy of Hickory; two sister in laws Jean Sigmon of Claremont, Kack Sigmon of Claremont; 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren survive her.

In addition to her parents; her husband of 46 years Coyte J. Brown; two sisters Ruth Hoke, Alice Haas; and five brothers Melvin Sigmon, Everette Sigmon, Roswell Sigmon, Coyte Sigmon, and Hugh Sigmon preceded her in death.

The funeral will be 11:00am Monday, February 12th, 2018 at Bethel Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Mike Ramey, Rev. Eric Hollar, Rev. Craig Schultz, and Rev. Dennis H. Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at at Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery.
