Mackie (Johnny) Lloyd Benfield, Jr. 46, of Newton passed away Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 at his home. Born May 26th, 1972 he was the son of Nettie Jolly Benfield and the late Mackie Benfield Sr.
His mother, Nettie Benfield of Hickory; two sons, Gaven Benfield of the home and Joshua Benfield of San Diego, California; a granddaughter, Heidi Benfield of Nevada; two brothers, Michael Benfield and wife Elaine of Newton, Rex Benfield and wife Jill of Hickory; two sisters, Marie Fedukovich of Newton and Maxine Pearson of Lenoir; two step daughters, Cierra Buchanan and Harley Bumgarner, both of Lenoir; an uncle, Ken Jolly of Hildebran; and several nieces and nephews survive him.
A son, Zachary Benfield and a nephew, Michael Sparks preceded him in death.
"You left too early. You had a very humble heart and would always make us all smile.You will forever be in our hearts and missed by many. Fly high with Jesus until we meet again."
He was a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church in Hudson, NC.
The funeral will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Bill Ashe and Devin Severt officiating. Pall bearers will be David Benfield, Fredrick Benfield, George Winchell, Cory Brown, Mike Cline and Austin Buchanan. Burial will follow at Sunrise Baptist Church in Hudson, NC.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm Saturday, October 13th, 2018 at the Celebration Center of Jenkins Funeral Home.
