Marialice Rutledge

Marialice Lillian Rutledge, 57, of Vale, NC passed away Saturday, March 10th, 2018 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Born October 28th, 1960. She was the daughter of the late Carl Wight and Alice O'Connar Wight. Her husband of 31 years Steve Rutledge survives her.
In addition to her husband; she is survived by an uncle Bob Wight of Michigan; numerous cousins; three sister in laws; ten nieces and nephews; and 12 great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents; her grandparents Edward and Ethel Wight and Jesse and Minnie O' Connar preceded her in death.
Member of the Salvation Army Church in Hickory, she had a passion for helping others no matter the trials she was dealing with herself. She loved her family and was always putting others needs before her own.
Over the years, she spent many countless hours of volunteer work including being a counselor/social worker at the Salvation Army Homeless Shelter, the Crisis Center, the Christmas Angel Tree Program, Kettle Bell Ringer, Sunday school teacher, Songster member, Timbrel leader, Home League, League of Mercy Volunteer, and any other area where an extra hand was needed. She also enjoyed crocheting baby blankets for family and friends. She had a love for hiking, even when she was using crutches, waterfalls,camping and spending time with family and friends.
The funeral will be 4:00 pm Friday, March 16th, 2018 at Salvation Army Chapel in Hickory NC with Captain Tim Delaney officiating.

The family will receive friends Thursday March 15th, 2018 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Jenkins Funeral Home.
