Mary Larson

Mary Kathryne Harris Larson, 67 of Claremont, passed away Friday, May 30th, 2015 at Catawba Valley Medical Center after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was born May 31st, 1947 in Catawba County to the late Walter Ray Harris and Vera Mae Harris. Mary loved the Lord and her faith in Him was beyond compare. She loved people and invested a lot of time in her family and friends. She was a faithful member of New Life Authentic Christian Community, where she served as the Women's Ministry Leader for many years. She was a 1965 graduate of St. Stephens High School and graduated from Catawba Valley Community College in 1988 with a degree in Business. She worked for Frye Hospital in the business department. She was office manager for Dr. Phillip Schmitt, MD. and later retired from her position as office manager for Dr. William L. Sims, neurosurgeon. A daughter, Tammi Walker Murray and husband, Jeff of Claremont; a son, Stephen David Walker of Conover; a sister, Wanda Helton of Hickory; a brother, Carl Ray Harris and wife Judy of Hickory; eight grandchildren, Whitney Williams and husband Jeff of Conover, Chelsie Moser of Claremont, Ashlynn Smith and husband Adam of Bellevue, NE, Chase, Christyan, Chandler, Charles Andrew Murray of Claremont and Tori Estess of Texas and two great-grand children survive her. In addition to her parents, her husband of 28 years, Paul Larson; a grand daughter, Charlie Ray Murray preceded her in death. The funeral will be 4:00 pm Thursday, June 4th, 2015 at New Life A.C.C. with Pastor Steve Clark officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 pm Wednesday, June 3rd, 2015 at New Life.
