Mary Underwood

Mary Elizabeth Underwood 87 of Hickory died Saturday March 1st, 2014 at Catawba Regional Hospice in Newton. Born March 30th, 1926 she was the daughter of the late Samuel Arthur Underwood and Rosa Heinz Underwood. She was registered nurse working for Knoxville Utility Board for many years. A sister-in-law and caregiver for over nine years, Ola Underwood of Granite Falls; three nieces, Sharon U. Elmore of Taylorsville, Mary Lou U. Miller and husband Dale of Hickory and Susan U. Bumgarner of Troutman; a nephew, Jonathan Underwood and wife Dana of Inman, SC; eight great nieces; three great nephews;seven great great nieces and six great great nephews survive her. A brother, Jesse Henry Underwood and a niece, Jill Rosanne Underwood Rudisill preceded her in death. A Graveside Service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday March 3rd, 2014 at Greenwood Cemetery in Knoxville TN. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30pm Sunday March 2nd, 2014 at Jenkins Funeral Home in Newton and again at the cemetery following the graveside service.
