Mary Wooten

Mary Louise Wooten, 99, of Hickory died Monday, October 30, 2023 at her residence. Born July 27th, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Grover and Rhoda Matthews. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Maiden and enjoyed puzzles and sewing. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Her daughter, Sherry Robinson (Sammy); three sons, Arnold Wooten (Cindy), Kelly Wooten (Kathy) and Dwight Wooten; two sisters, Dorothy "Dot" Huffman of Canton and Judy Hipps of Canton and eleven grandchildren survive her.

In addition to her parents, her husband of 49 years, Herman Wooten; three sons, Richard Matthews, Eddie Matthews and Walter "Stevie" Wooten; eight siblings, Lois Matthews, Betty Matthews, Kitty Worley, Lazelle Sampson, Donna Worley, Harry Matthews, Homer Matthews and Carroll Matthews preceded her in death.

The funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 3, 2023 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Gwyn Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M., and burial will follow at the church.
