Michael Cline

September 26, 1970 — February 6, 2015

Michael Anthony Cline was welcomed by the angels into Heaven to meet face-to-face with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 6, 2015. Michael displayed amazing strength and courage during his battle against cancer, and was a true inspiration to others. Michael was born September 26, 1970 in Forsyth County, the son of John "Raymond" Cline and Dianna Honeycutt Cline. He was preceded in death by two infant brothers, his first wife, Chrystal Shook Cline, his uncle, Eddie Cline, and grandfather, John Cline. Michael is survived by his wife, Tracey Watts Cline of the home; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Cline of Conover; three daughters, Taylor Buchanan Brown of Hickory, Tatianna and Hailey Cline of Conover. Michael shared a special relationship with all of his daughters, but the light of his life was his only grand daughter, "his little heifer", Peyton. Michael is also survived by his in-laws, Wayne and Micky Shook of Newton and Ralph and Faye Watts of Conover. Sister and Brother-in-law, Sundy and Jim Swanson of Maiden and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. Michael has also been blessed to be survived by his best friend of 44 years, Wesley Spencer and brother-in-blue, Jeremy Graham. Michael was so blessed to have so many loving and loyal friends. Michael was a 1988 graduate of Bandys High School. Michael spent the majority of his life in public safety. Michael retired on disability from Catawba County as a 911 telecommunicator in 2014 where he loved his job and coworkers. He had worked for the Newton Police Department as both a patrol officer and as a School Resource Officer at Newton-Conover Middle School, where he loved all of his students, and treated each as his own. He began his law enforcement career with the Claremont Police Department, and later worked for his mentor, Cecil Cook, at the Catawba Police Department. Michael and his wife and daughters are members at New Vision Presbyterian Church in Conover, where he served as an Elder. Michael helped lead music during vacation bible school and helped with the back pack program to feed school children. Michael continued to be a vital, active participant in the church until the end of his life. He loved his church family and they showered him with blessings. A homecoming celebration of Michael's life will be held on 6:00pm Sunday, February 8, 2015 at New Vision Presbyterian Church, 502 Thornburg Drive, NE, Conover, NC. The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:45 P.M. Sunday at the church, prior to the celebration. In lieu of flowers, Michael asked that donations be made to the Back Pack Child Nutritional Program at New Vision Presbyterian Church. This program provides food for 75 children per week from a local elementary school, so that they have food to eat over the weekend while school is out. Please sign the online guestbook at www.JenkinsFuneralHome.net. The Cline family has entrusted arrangements to Jenkins Funeral Home in Newton- #828-464-1555.
