Michael Ward

Michael Eugene Ward, “Gene”, 76, of Lincolnton, NC went to his heavenly home on Tuesday,
April 23, 2024 at Wendover Hospice House. He was born Tuesday, August 26, 1947, the son of
Paul Eugene Ward and Catherine Winnie Ward.

Gene will be missed by his stepchildren, Debra Ward (Joe) from Cherryville, NC; Greg Tanner
(Trish) from Catawba, NC, and Chrystal Stegal from Mt. Pleasant, SC. He has 10 grandchildren.
Inez Rick Ward, wife, preceded him in death along with his parents, Paul Eugene Ward, father,
and Catherine Winnie Ward, mother, and stepson, Randy Tanner.

Gene loved the Lord and his family. He was a quiet and observant man who enjoyed spending
time with the grandkids. The grandkids appreciated that he never forgot their birthdays. He loved
sports and Nascar. He was always willing to help friends and family whenever he could.
Gene worked for Duke Power now Duke Energy for over 30 years.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Evangelical Church at 1911 Zion Church Road, Hickory, NC. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am with the funeral
beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow the service. Rev. David T. Drysdale, II,
will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wendover Hospice House, Shelby, NC and Zion
Lutheran Evangelical Church in Hickory, NC. A special thank you to the Wendover Staff for the
respect and care that was provided to Gene.
