Mildred Laughter

April 18, 1920 — June 23, 2011

Mildred Earp Laughter, 91 of Rock Barn Assisted Living died Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Lutheran Home West. Born April 18, 1920 in Iredell County, NC, she was the daughter of the late, Cordie Eudaly Earp and Flossie Edison Tilley Earp. Mildred was a member of North Newton Baptist Church, she loved God, her family and friends. She was a kind hearted lady that never met a stranger. Mildred treated many organizations, meetings and friends with the reciting of poetry & scripture. She also loved to cook, bake and sell cakes. She worked for many years as a knitter and looper for Cilley Hosiery. She and her husband Willard owned and operated Laughter rugs. A son, John Thomas Laughter & wife Jane of Conover; a brother, Arnold Earp of West Haven. CT.; four grand-children, Shaun, Andy, Nicky and Lindsay; five great grand-children; a number of nieces and nephews, extended family Doug and Linda Travis of Claremont & Delores McCorkle of Claremont survive her. Her late husband, Willard Redden Laughter; and a brother, Clyde Webster Earp; and special friend Troy Gilliland preceded her in death. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Lloyd King will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Snow Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery in Statesville. Pallbearers include; Andy Laughter, Andrew Richardson, Michael Rimmer, Dominic Salerno, Zachary Brayon, Issac Brayon and Larry Earp. Memorials may be made to St. John?s Blind Ministry, 2126 St. John?s Church Road, Conover, NC 28613 or to The Catawba County Association for the Blind, C/O Barbara Williams, 480 17th Avenue, NW Hickory, NC 28601.
