Millard Fillmore Hurt, Jr., 76 of Hwy 150, Lincolnton died Friday, December 23, 2011 at the V.A. Hospital in Asheville. Born September 17, 1935 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Millard Fillmore Hurt, Sr. and Dollie Stafford Hurt. A U.S. Army veteran, he and his wife were owners and operators of Hurt?s Children?s Shop and Hurt?s Upholstery in Lincolnton. He was a lifelong member of Gainesville Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, Rachel Carpenter Hurt of the home; two daughters, Lisa Annette Smith of Hickory and Linda Anthony of Cherryville; a son, Danny Pendleton of Crouse, NC; two sisters, Helen Farmer and Yvonne Hurt, both of Lincolnton; six grand-children, Angelia Bieberich, Kimberly Lingerfelt, Seth Smith, Hayden Smith, Jeremy Pendleton, Matthew Pendleton, six great grandchildren; Alexa Bieberich, Anna Bieberich, Holden Lingerfelt, Holyn Lingerfelt, Bo Pendleton and Carter Stallings survive him. Three sisters; Ruth Kiser, Shirley Hurt and Jeannette Hurt and three brothers; Fred Hurt, Lawrence Hurt and Ray Hurt preceded him in death. The funeral will be 2:30 PM Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Gainesville Baptist Church with Pastor?s Mike Rice and Michael D. White officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 PM Tuesday at the church, just prior to the service.
