Minnie Myrtle Bowman, 85 of Hickory died Wednesday, May 11th, 2016 at Catawba Regional Hospice. Born June 19th, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Amos Heath and Minnie Heath. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from the NC School for the Deaf where she met the love of her life and her husband of 43 years. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her animals. Two sons, Thomas Bowman of Newton and Ray Bowman and wife Ann of Hickory; a daughter, Lisa Powell of Newton and fiance, Erik Bathe; a brother, Billy Heath of Newton; a sister, Ruth Davis of Hickory; three grandchildren, Erin Bowman Davidson and husband Andrew of Weaverville, Harrison Bowman of Hickory and Anna Katherine Bowman of Hickory; a great granddaughter, Hattie Pearl Davidson and numerous nieces and nephews survive her. In addition to her husband, Richard Clifton Bowman, a sister, Alice Smith and three brothers, Woodrow Smith, Josh Smith and Bob Smith, preceded her in death. The family would like to extend special thanks to Kaye Tester for her loving care and companionship over the last year. A Celebration of Myrtle's life will be 3:00 pm Saturday, May 14th, 2016 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Startown with Rev. O Ralph Kraft, Jr. and Pastor Jesse Bowman officiating. Burial will private at St. Paul's Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-2:45 pm Saturday, May 14th, 2016 prior to the service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
