Miriam Alderfer Detweiler, 79, of Hickory died February 5th, 2014 at her home. Born November 13th, 1934 she was the daughter of Henry Wisler Alderfer and Aquilla Leatherman.
Her husband of 59 years, Durrell Detweiler of the home; three daughters, Gwen Zook and husband Darrell of Harrisonburg, VA, Yvonne Martin and husband Mike of Harrisonburg, VA, and Melody Phelps and husband Robert of Pittsburgh, PA; three sons Glenn Detweiler and wife Carol of Corn, OK, Dennis Detweiler and wife Cindy of Hickory; and Merlin Detweiler and wife Becky of Hickory; three sisters Elizabeth Myers, Alice Detweiler and husband Elmer, Pearl Freed and husband Norman, all of Bucks County, PA; a brother Claude Alderfer of Bucks County, PA; a sister-in-law Gladys Alderfer of Troy, PA; sixteen grand-children; and thirteen great grand-children survive her.
In addition to her parents; three sisters, Grace Sheetz, Mary Rice, Florence Alderfer; and a brother Willard Alderfer preceded her in death.
The funeral will be 2:30 pm Sunday, February 9th, 2014 at Providence Baptist Church with an open casket forty-five minutes prior. Pastor Chuck Hostetter will officiate. Burial will follow at Mountain View Mennonite Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 pm Saturday February 8th, 2014 at Mountain View Mennonite Church.
