Mont Little

Mont Joseph Little, 84 of Newton died Tuesday, February 10th, 2015 at his residence. Born September 23rd, 1930, he was the son of the late Mont Joseph Little, Sr. and Hattie Killian Little. He retired from Bassett Furniture after over 25 years of service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Sergeant and was an MP at the Brooklyn Naval Yard. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to jet-ski and generally loved the outdoors. He loved spending time at the flea market and spending time with his family. Three sons, Danny J. Little and wife Kelsey of Maiden, Gary W. Little and wife Karyn of Catawba, NC and Jeff Little and wife Connie of Newton; a brother, Harold "Shorty" Little and wife, Geraldine of Maiden; four grandchildren, Cristy Detter and husband Eric, Leigh Edwards and husband Eric, Stephanie Elliott and husband Justin and Danielle Hicks and husband Michael and seven great-grandchildren survive him. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Friday, February 13th, 2015 at St. Paul's Reformed Church with Pastor John Bigelow officiating. Burial will follow at St Paul's Memorial Park with Military Rites provided by the Marine Corps & local Marine Corps League Detachment #1163. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 pm Friday, February 13th, 2015 at the church. Pallbearers include Mike Little, Tim Little, Eric Edwards, Darrell Sigmon, Ronnie Veith and Danny Stillwell. In lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100 Charlotte, North Carolina 28207 or to St. Paul's Reformed Church Men's Brotherhood 3562 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658.
