Nadine Atkinson

Nadine Yvonne Atkinson, 52 of 12th Avenue SE, Hickory died Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. She was born July 3, 1957 the daughter of; Steve Titus Abernethy and (step-mother, Regina) Abernethy of Newton and Vera Nadine Sigmon Withers of Conover. She was outgoing and loved to encourage everyone. Nadine was a member of Gateway Baptist Church, loved children & taking care of the church nursery. Her husband of nearly 18 years, Richard William Atkinson of the home; two daughters, Rachel Elizabeth Parlier Wetz of Hickory, Stacey Elaine Norris of Hawaii; two sons, Lonnie Eves of Bakersfield, CA. & Larry Fife a member of the US Army, stationed in Germany,; a brother, Lance Alonzo Abernethy of Washington, DC; two grandchildren, Christian Michael Wetz and Megan Lillie Wetz survive her. A Funeral Service will be 4:00 pm Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Gateway Baptist Church in Newton. Rev. Jerome Walker & Rev. Chad Warner will officiate. The family will receive friends prior from 3-4:00 pm Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Gateway Baptist Church Building Fund, 3105 Sandy Ford Road, Newton NC 28658.
