Nancy Bost

December 31, 1969 — August 22, 2015

Nancy Taylor Bost, 91, of Hickory, beloved mother, wife, sister, friend, died peacefully at home Saturday, August 22, surrounded by her family and loving caregiver. Born to the late Dr. William Comfort Taylor and Elizabeth Womble Taylor on October 5, 1923, Nancy grew up in Salisbury, enjoying an older sister and younger brother, both whom she adored. Always loving the out-of-doors, gardening, swimming and water-skiing, she grew to be an accomplished tap and ballet dancer. Nancy declined further study in New York, instead choosing Woman?s College in Greensboro, now UNC-G, graduating in 1944 with a BA in Primary Education. While a student Nancy met her lifetime sweetheart, Charles Carroll Bost III of Hickory, on a Valentine?s Day blind-date. They were married December 13, 1944 and were devoted to each other for 49 years until Carroll?s sudden death in 1994. A long-time member of Corinth United Church of Christ, Nancy became the first woman ever selected to Corinth?s consistory. In 1972 she and Carroll moved to Hudson, joining the Hudson United Methodist Church where she again actively served her church. In addition to her Christian faith, Nancy?s passion in life was teaching children, whether as loving mother, as Sunday or Bible School teacher, or during her 20-year career with the Granite Falls City Schools, or as a dear grandmother and great-grandmother. She cared deeply for all children and will be remembered for her charming dimples and radiant smile. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Bost, sister and brother-in-law Betty and H.Ted Smith of Hillsborough, sisters-in-law Lois Taylor and Doris Taylor of Greenville, SC. She is survived by brother Bill Taylor of Greenville, SC; 2 children, son Randy Bost and wife Jennie of Newton and daughter Nancy Carol Stuetzer and husband Tom of Dunwoody, GA; 5 grandchildren: Taylor Fernandez of south FL, Randall Bost of Charlotte, Tom H. Stuetzer of Marietta, GA; Ryan Stuetzer of Suwanee, GA, and Eric Stuetzer of Cumming, GA; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces Nancy Graves of Mebane and Ann Morgan of Rock Hill, SC; nephews Bill Taylor III of Athens, GA and Bob Taylor of Anderson, SC.
