Nancy Westbrook

Mrs. Nancy Goforth Westbrook, 83, died July 13, 2019 at Abernethy Laurels in Newton, North Carolina.  A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Spirit Place at Abernethy Laurels.Mrs. Westbrook, a native of Hendersonville, North Carolina, was the daughter of Ben and Blanch Goforth (deceased).  Survivors are sister Pamela G. McAdams, and stepchildren Trinka Westbrook King, Erika Westbrook, and John Westbrook.  She was happily married to Arthur Hampson Westbrook (deceased) for 34 years. She graduated from Brevard College and Elon College with a degree in biology in 1958; attended medical technology laboratory school at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina becoming certified in 1960; received a master’s degree in 1988 from Winthrop College with a specialty in blood banking; worked in various hospital laboratories; then York Technical to teach in the medical lab programs for the last 21 years of her career. She was an active member of Myers Memorial United Methodist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina for many years where she taught Sunday School and played handbells.  She loved to travel, do needlework, and always ready to learn something new.

She is buried in Oakdale Cemetery with her parents and husband.
