Ned Lee Setzer 84 of Hickory died Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at his residence after a brief illness. Born, January 3, 1938 he was the son of the late Raymond Dexter Setzer and Ruby Arvella Setzer. Ned had a love for music from an early age, and he developed a beautiful tenor voice which led him to be involved in multiple choirs including the choir at Trinity Reformed UCC, the Catawba Valley Community Chorus, and the First Baptist Church of Hickory Melodeers, who went out to provide music ministry in nursing homes. He had a love for sports and had been a slow-pitch softball coach for Trinity Reformed UCC.
His wife of 32 years, Mary Jane "Janie" Hutto Setzer; a son, Timothy Scott Setzer and wife Annette of Newton; a daughter, Cynthia Janiece Setzer Abel of Newton; his twin brother Ted Setzer and wife Becky of Conover and a sister, Joann Setzer Harper and husband Charles of Conover; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren survive him.
The funeral will be 11:00 AM Monday November 21, 2022 at Trinity Reformed UCC in Conover. Burial will follow at Old St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM -11:00 AM Monday at the church.
