Nellie Laney

Nellie Reese Laney, 78 of Vesuvius Furnace Road, Iron Station died Monday, April 16, 2012 at Carolina?s Medical Center Lincolnton. Born August 11, 1933 in Catawba County, NC she was the daughter of the late James McKinley Reese and Odessa Kate Hewitt Rese. Nellie was a member of Starmount Baptist Church in Newton. In addition to her husband, Wayne Eugene Laney of the home; a daughter, Sheri Lynn Ratchford and husband Charlie of Topsail Island, NC; two sons, Michael W. Laney of Iron Station and Mickey Eugene Laney and wife Joanie of Topsail Island, NC; a sister, Ruby Lee Alexander of Pascagoula, MS; five grand-children and 14 great grand-children survive her. Two brothers, Harry Rese and Jimmy Rese and a sister, Betty Isenhour preceded her in death. The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Jenkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. J.D. Grasty will officiate. Burial will follow at Jenkins Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. immediately prior to the service in the chapel.
