Mrs. Nina Joria Ward, 71 of Connelly Springs went home to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, November 25, 2022 at Grace Hospital following a period of declining health. Nina was born April 7th, 1951 in Yancey County to the late Herman Hall and Dixie Blevins Hall. Nina was a devout Christian and a devoted member of the Connelly Springs Freewill Baptist Church. For many years, she touched the lives of those around her through her contagious spirit and acts of service. The roles she performed were as large as her family- Church play script writer, VBS coordinator, Sunday School teacher, janitor and the flowers and card ministry. Every part she played was vital and her presence will always be missed.
Her children, Amy Barker and husband Don Barker and Tracy Ward; father of children, Terry Ward; two grandchildren, Randy Ward and Jacob Barker; two great-grandchildren, Jude and Jed Ward; two sisters, Saundra Brittain and Sharon Collins and numerous nieces and nephews survive her.
In addition to her parents, three sisters, Tonya Blevis, Tammy Hall and Debbie Wilson and her grandson, Trae Ward preceded her in death.
The funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Connelly Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Aaron Causby officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 1:30-2:00 at the church and burial will follow at the Church Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Janie Kiser and current caregiver, Cathy Riddle for the care they provided to Nina.
