Nora Houser

Nora Frances Scoggins Houser, age 91, passed away Friday July 14, 2017, at National Health Care Nursing Center of Anderson, SC.  She was born on March 18, 1926 in Lincolnton, Lincoln County, GA to Leroy and Sue Jane Parton Scoggins.  In her childhood, she moved with her parents to Lincolnton, NC where she grew up.    Frances was cherished as a mother and homemaker by her husband James Franklin Houser and their five children. She also worked in various positions at the Naval Shipyard in Baltimore, MD,  Westinghouse Electric in Baltimore, MD, and Leslie Fay in Lincolnton, NC.

Frances and James Franklin Houser were married in 1945, after his discharge from the Navy.  They were married for 36 years prior to his death.   Frances was baptized and a member of the North Anderson Baptist Church in Anderson, SC where she resided since 2005. She enjoyed homemaking, cooking, gardening and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Sue Scoggins; brothers, Marshall Scoggins and Cleave Scoggins and husband James Franklin Houser.  She is survived by her children, Shirlyn M.Wenrich (John) of Gainesville, GA,  James F. Houser, Jr. (Betty) of Lincolnton, NC, Theresa H. Osborne (Paul) of Lincolnton, NC, David Wayne Houser of Felton, DE and Brenda H. Morgan (Steve) of Pendleton, SC,  nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Her immediate family will hold a private viewing at Jenkins Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday July 18, 2017 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton, NC.  Flowers will be accepted at Jenkins Funeral Home 4081 Startown Rd.  Newton, NC 28658. or donations to the Alzheimer's Association may be made in her memory at  www.Alz.org.
